The Study Group organized its first meeting on Saturday, July 8th, hosted by the Musical Instrument Museum of the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia in Rome. The day was articulated in three paper sessions and a further moment for debate and discussion, on different aspects of the role of the study of musical instruments within musicology, and mutual contribution that can ensue. It was attended by ca 30 colleagues coming from eleven different countries in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The participants elected Florence Gétreau, Margaret Kartomi and Gabriele Rossi Rognoni to coordinate the activity of the Study Group. The Directorium of the International Musicological Society formally approved the new study group. For more information see --> pdf
